Making Your New House Feel Like Home Right Away

Posted on

When you are looking for a house to buy, such as one of the pre-owned homes in Encanterra golf community, you want to end up in one that already feels like home to you. However, no matter how much like home it feels when you are going through the buying process, there is still going to be a period of newness you will need to get through before your family feels totally comfortable and settled in.

If you have younger children then you may find that this can be quite an adjustment for them. Here are some things you can do as soon as you get the keys to help the house really feel like your own right away:

1: Hang up pictures on the walls

Get those family photos out and hang them on the walls as soon as you can. Having pictures up around the house of the family will really help the house to feel like your place. Don't forget to hang up those pictures and posters of your children's favorite characters in their bedrooms so they can feel at home quickly as well.

2: Pull out your regular bedding to use right away

When you are setting up the bedrooms, you want to make sure you have fast access to your normal bedding. When you make your beds with sheets and blankets that you rarely use, it will only feed into that new place feeling and it won't help you feel like you are sleeping in 'your home'. Your children will especially appreciate being able to go to bed right away with their favorite blankets, since a lot of children tend to hold their blankets near and dear to their heart and get a lot of comfort from them.

3: Get your favorite entertainment items set up right away

Be careful with packing your favorite entertainment items for the move to the new place, so you know right where they are when you are unpacking. You'll want to get right to them. Whether they are TVs, radios, computers, gaming systems, board games or anything else, you aren't going to feel at home if you don't have access to the things you are used to spending a great deal of time on. This also goes for your children too. You want all their favorite games and toys to be in one box, clearly labelled and easy to get to once you move in to the new house so they can have them right away.
